Sodexo PLC, a Paris-based food and facilities management provider, has agreed to acquire A.H. Management, a Rolling Meadows, Illinois-based convenience services provider, for an undisclosed sum, according to a press release.

Craig Hesch

Sodexo purchased the company from four members of the Hesch family, including Craig, Mark and Chris Hesch, grandsons of Anthony and Isabel Hesch, who founded the company in 1939.

"It's a great fit; the company (Sodexo) is a great company," Craig Hesch, president of the company, told Vending Times in a phone interview. "This was about all of our people. They (Sodexo) are taking everybody, and that's the best part."

Craig Hesch has retired with the acquisition, while his brother Mark, who was chief operating officer and vice president, will remain with the company.

Both Craig Hesch and his father, Don Hesch, served as chairmen of the National Automatic Merchandising Association.

Sodexo will be leasing the company's operating facilities, which include an operating facility in Franklin, Wisconsin in addition to its Rolling Meadows, Illinois facility.

With the acquisition, Sodexo will extend its InReach food offerings in the North American convenience services market.

The acquisition represents a further step in the food transformation for Sodexo in North America. A.H. Management will follow the acquisition of Frontline Food Services in 2022, as well as the food tech start-up Foodee and the commissary kitchen model Nourish Inc. in 2021.

With A.H. Management, Sodexo will complement and broaden its multi-channel offerings through InReach including micro markets, vending, office coffee, pantry, water, catering, fresh food and on-site foodservice in the Midwest, Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, as well as the Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas.

The closing of the acquisition is expected in the coming months.
