Sodexo has partnered with SavorEat, an Israel based food tech provider, to commercialize the company's robot chef at universities in the U.S., according to an announcement on SavorEat's website.

The companies will conduct a pilot test in 2022 in which Sodexo will examine the robot chef system and the first product developed by SavorEat, a plant-based protein burger.

The pilot at U.S. universities will provide exposure among SavorEat's target auience, the 20- to 30-year-old market segment in the U.S., 47% of whom declare themselves to be flexitarians, people seeking to reduce their meat intake.

"Sodexo's partnership with SavorEat will further extend our ability to deliver the plant-based foods our clients' customers are demanding in increasingly growing numbers," Husein Kitabwalla, CEO of services operations and food transformation, Sodexo North America, said in the press release.

Each portion of the plant-based burger is produced within the robot chef system, which incorporates digital production that does not use human touch and includes grilling.
