Smile Beverage Werks debuts compostable coffee pods

Smile Beverage Werks has introduced compostable K-cup style coffee pods for its own brand, Smile Coffee Werks, and for private label for retailers. The pods are compatible with Keurig machines and Nespresso original style espresso makers, but are more environmentally sustainable than traditional single-serve plastic and aluminum coffee pods, according to a press release. The pods are commercially compostable, carbon neutral and made from renewable plant-based materials, and have a more than 12-month shelf-life.

SBW pods will launch in three flavors: High Country (a 100% Colombian RFA coffee), Werkday (single-origin, medium roast coffee) and Woke Up (a 100% Arabica dark roast).
