Slice Soda is offering a limited-time throwback price of 50 cents per can in Chicago, available at select locations and all Jewel-Osco stores, according to a press release. This promotion aims to evoke nostalgia for the 80s and 90s, when soda was more affordable.
The classic soda brand has placed vintage vending machines, which only accept quarters, at various spots across the city. One such machine is currently at The Wiener's Circle (July 16-29), with additional pop-ups planned for street festivals like Roscoe Village Burger Fest (July 18-20) and The Wicker Park Festival (July 25-27). For those preferring retail, the 50-cent pricing is available at all Jewel-Osco locations from July 16-22, with Slice found in the refrigerated produce section.
Relaunched by Suja Life, Slice Soda now features five grams of sugar or less, 40 calories or less, no high fructose corn syrup, and a blend of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics. The brand is reintroducing nostalgic flavors including Orange, Grape, Strawberry, Lemon Lime, Classic Cola, Ginger Ale and Grapefruit Spritz.
The throwback pricing is part of Slice's broader "summer time machine" campaign, which also includes "The Fizz FM," an AI-developed music experience featuring retro-inspired DJ sets from the 80s and 90s. This platform aims to combine music, memories and Slice's updated flavor.
