LOUISVILLE, KY - Whitney Meadows, Louisville field representative for Sen. Rand Paul (R.-KY), recently visited the headquarters of Total Vend here.
"We are always interested in welcoming elected officials to our business as a great way to introduce our employees, our industry and our issues," said Ron White, owner and chief executive officer of Total Vend. "Following the National Automatic Merchandising Association Fly-In, this was a great way to educate a key staff member on technology in our industry."
Total Vend, founded in 1960, is a full-line vending, micromarket and office refreshment services provider. The company is a member of the USConnect nationwide wireless integrated food service network and Unified Strategies Group, a national independent operator purchasing cooperative. It is active in the Kentucky Automatic Merchandising Council and NAMA.
The annual Fly-In is a key event in NAMA's ongoing effort to inform legislators and regulators of the industry's importance to the national economy and to local communities across the United States. It affords operators an opportunity to visit the Washington offices of their elected officials to discuss topics of concern to operating companies and suppliers.
Fly-In participants are encouraged to invite officials and their staff members to visit operating company facilities to meet the teams that keep America refreshed and to get an overview of the sophisticated technologies used by the industry to maximize customer satisfaction and build employee morale.
Such visits, said White, "Demonstrate the real value of advocacy and building relationships with lawmakers and their staff members. We've participated in the NAMA Fly-In, along with nearly 300 other members of the industry, and found it to be an experience that has delivered positive results."
