LOS ANGELES -- Sega said it will not be exhibiting at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. The absence of a Sega booth at E3 next month marks the first time the videogame company has missed E3 since the show's inauguration in 1995.
News of Sega's planned absence from the annual trade show has sent the Internet buzzing with rumors the that the legendary videogame company might be in worse shape than previously reported. Despite the lack of a booth, the company will maintain a presence at the event with business partners and games, including Total War: Warhammer.
Sega officials blamed the nonattendance on company's restructuring effort, which includes a move from northern to southern California, employee downsizing and a new focus on mobile games.
E3 takes place June 16-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
