Sega Corp. has agreed to acquire Rovio Entertainment Oyj, a mobile game company based in Finland that owns the "Angry Birds" video game, through Sega's wholly-owned U.K. subsidiary Sega Europe Ltd. Sega agreed to acquire Rovio for €706 million ($773.24 million) based on the currency exchange rate as of April 14, according to a press release.
Shareholders in Rovio who in aggregate hold shares corresponding to approximately 49.1% of the outstanding shares and votes in Rovio, have agreed to accept the offer.
The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2024 and is contingent on the completion of reviews under antitrust laws and other customary conditions.
