LONDON -- Sega Amusements International reports that it is filling orders for its new Magician's Wheel, an eye-catching mechanical ticket redemption game, enhanced by LED lighting effects. And creating it did not require the company to reinvent the wheel, quipped Sega Amusements chief executive Paul Williams.
"When creating mechanical ticket redemption games, designers know what historically works and will often draw from the past to invent the future," Williams said. "With Magician's Wheel, we've combined intuitive gameplay with a classic theme."
A spinning wheel is one of the classic arcade-game patterns, along with coin pushers and alley rollers. Magician's Wheel restates that theme in a contemporary package. As soon as play is initiated, the giant (40" diameter) wheel starts to spin. By manipulating a single large button, the player lowers a mechanical "flapper" into the path of the spinning wheel. The flapper slowly brings the wheel to a stop and, if the player times the drop at the right moment, the bonus ticket value is the reward. In addition to the bonus, players can win the "magic ticket value," which is not revealed until it's won.
"The game has so many things going for it -- the carnival theme and sounds, its impressive size, attractive LED lighting effects, mechanical action and intuitive gameplay," Williams said. "All these attributes add up to a "terrific gameplay experience."
The game measures 47" W. x 35" D. x 109" H. Operators can adjust ticket values and price-per-play settings.
Magician's Wheel is one of the five brand-new Sega games in Firestone Financial's Fantastic Five finance program. The other titles are Mario and Sonic at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Dash Extreme and Sonic Blast Ball.
