SEGA AMUSEMENT'S HOUSE OF THE DEAD: SCARLET DAWN

CHESSINGTON, England -- Slated to debut at this year's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo is the latest edition of Sega Amusement International's House of the Dead series, Scarlet Dawn. The show is set for Nov. 12 through 16 at the Orange County Convention Center (Orlando, FL).

House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn is the newest update to Sega's quintessential zombie horror game, the first edition of which dates back to 1996. The company observes that the horror genre is resurgent on television and films as well as in mobile and console games. The zombie horror-themed cabinet features molded three-dimensional figures, and is designed to convey the sense that zombies are trying to escape from the cabinet. Bright color-changing lights accentuate the zombie shadows for a chilling look that attracts visitors in any location.

"Passers-by are drawn to press the red zombie eye on the front of the cabinet," Sega explained. Little do they know that a this action will cause a terrifying 3D molded  zombie to appear, accompanied by flashing lights and a scream.

The company reports that House of The Dead has pushed the limits with every release. The new edition arrives with an impressive back catalogue of four blockbuster amusement games, movies and console games with a global following of core and casual players.

"We are thrilled to be part of this historic release," said Sega Amusements chief executive officer Paul Williams. "House of the Dead is the crown jewel in Sega's license portfolio, with a great heritage and a loyal following. We pulled out all the stops to deliver the best experience. Developed by the dedicated R&D team in Japan, this game gets a true special-edition treatment."

The House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn's super deluxe cabinet delivers a "five-dimensional" full-body experience. Players will hear bullets flying and zombies caterwauling from every angle with the 5.1-channel surround sound and subwoofer system. A potent bass shaker generates 50 W. of vibrations to get players on the edge of their seats when escaping zombies by quad-bike or helicopter. Precisely-timed air cannon blasts enable players to feel explosion blasts and wind. Dedicated spot LED illumination enhances the  mood.

The new game incorporates a novel lightweight controller that uses unique vibration technology to create realistic recoil. It applies a precise frequency to the vibration unit to generate the appropriate recoil for the weapon used by the player.

Five epic game missions, lots of secret items to collect and a variety of special weapons encourage players to keep coming back to play for more. Designed to provide fun for all, players can choose between Normal or Master based on skill level.

"With so many features packed in this game, along with the news of phenomenal test income that has spread, we are seeing a huge surge in pre-orders," Williams concluded. "This is a must-see game at the upcoming IAAPA show, where it will be launched officially to the Western world."

The game in its super deluxe cabinet measures 84" (215 cm.) D. x 57" (145 cm.) W. x 90" (231 cm.) H., and weighs 1,103 lbs. (500 kg.). It will be in the spotlight at Sega's booths 1506 and 1606 at the IAAPA Attractions Expo.
