ORLANDO, FL - Sega Amusements International has announced that it will introduce a four-player arcade game themed to the long-running Mission: Impossiblesaga at this year's International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions 2019 Expo here.
Visitors to Sega's booth 1506 Expo will be able to experience the immersive Mission: Impossiblespy world when they enter the four-player Super Deluxe Attraction cabinet. Designed to look like the IMF (Impossible Mission Force) safehouse, the detailed interiors convey the feel of the top-secret hideout. Edge lighting on the control area and the subwoofers, spot player lighting and LED floor lighting strips not only flood the interior of the cabinet with light, but also immerse the player in the hi-tech ambience of the game.
The fast-paced action takes place on two 55-in. HD screens. Video camera feed shows the leading team player's face in-game, enhancing the competitive spirit. Four powerful bass "shakers" embedded in the floor work in conjunction with surround sound and subwoofers to intensify the explosive action.
"TheMission: Impossiblefilms are some of the best spy movies ever made," said Sega general manager Justin Burke. "The adrenaline-fueled action and twists makeMission: Impossiblea cultural phenomenon. We bring all this energy and excitement to the game. Every detail from cabinet to game software has been designed to immerse the player in the high-tech spy world of Mission: Impossible."
The game's attraction cabinet features the iconic "fuse"effect from the films. The bright fuse-like animation light around the edge of the cabinet moves gradually; imparting a distinctive look that engages player attention from across the room. A smart proximity sensor detects players movement and initiates a special message on the massive 65-in. attract screen inviting players to join the covert task force. Multi-sided artwork allows operators to feature the game as attraction centerpiece.
The new dual pistol controllers represent the next stage in-game controller technology, Sega added. Using cutting-edge accelerometer technology increases controller reliability by reducing moving parts. The new controller is designed to provide a greater range of motion, smoother movement and great accuracy. Its ergonomic design makes gameplay comfortable. Feature lighting on the controller entices players and encourages them to keep playing.
"This new hardware synergizes perfectly with game software, allowing us to create fun new elements to the way players eliminate enemies," said Sega R&D game producer Shinichi Ogasawara. Pressing a single trigger fires one high-accuracy shot, he explained; holding down both triggers produces dual burst damage.
The gameplay sees players complete nine stages across three action-packed missions. Players will have to stealthily descend from great heights, hack systems, eliminate opponents, track enemy targets, blast down doors and pursue and shoot and enemies.
"Mission: Impossible Arcade ushers a brand-new era in cabinet design for the industry," said Sega chief executive officer Paul Williams. "Our R&D team is leading the way by bringing fresh new ideas and engineering to achieve this breath-taking cabinet design.
"We are thrilled to bring this multibillion-dollar blockbuster film franchise to our market," Williams continued. "The incredible excitement for current films makes Mission: Impossible one of the hottest licenses for video games. We have given this game the all-star treatment, starting with a revolutionary new cabinet and packing in thrilling gameplay that instantly transports players into theMission: Impossibleworld and is sure to get them wanting more. With more Mission: Impossiblefilms planned, this franchise is, without doubt, a must-have for operators in 2020."
The originalMission: Impossibletelevision series premiered in 1966 and was revived in1988. The first motion picture premiered in 1996, inseparably linking actor Tom Cruise to the franchise; sequels followed in 2000, 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2018.
Sega U.S. sales manager Vince Moreno reported that the entire sales team and key R&D personnel will attend the Attractions Expo. He urged everyone attending the show to visit Sega's booth #1506 for an in-depth look at the new game.
