ORLANDO, FL - Sega Amusements International's Hoopla has been honored by the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions with a prestigious Brass Ring award for Best New Product in the Arcade and Video Games category. A collaborative development by Sega and ICE, Hoopla is the latest addition to the celebrated carnival-themed skill wall games. It was introduced to the trade at IAAPA's Attractions Expo here.
Sega received second place honors after Andamiro, which won the best product Brass Ring for its WWE Superstar Rumble. SEE STORY.
"We are delighted and humbled by the industry's recognition for our innovation and the quality of entertainment delivered by Hoopla," said Sega chief executive Paul Williams.
"Hoopla is a phenomenal addition to the skill wall," observed ICE vice-president Joe Coppola. "On location, it is an instant hit with all ages of the family. For Hoopla to win a Brass Ring award is a testament to the popularity of the game."
Hoopla is Sega's latest skill-based redemption game, and the company reports that it's receiving glowing reviews from customers all over the world. The player races against the clock to hook hoops on each of seven pegs; success is rewarded with entry into the bonus round. In this round, the player must catch the moving illuminated peg with a hoop, a feat that wins the big-ticket bonus.
The brightly lit game is designed with families in mind, featuring a low, wide playfield to encourage parents and kids, or friends, to team up and enjoy the game together. The conveyor belt constantly feeds more hoops to the players to keep the game fun and entertaining throughout.
Sega Amusements International extends its thanks to the IAAPA Awards Committee for awarding Hoopla the new-product Brass Ring Award.
Hoopla may be ordered from Sega by calling (847) 364-9787 or +44 (0)208 391 8090l; customers in North and Central America may call Innovative Concepts in Entertainment at (716) 759-0370. It's also available from authorized Sega distributors.
