LOUIS, MO, March 18, 2014 -- S&B Candy and Toy will be making a scholarship presentation to the first winner of its Smarties Scholarship program at the S&B Candy & Toy booth at the Amusement Expo in Las Vegas, NV. The first winner is a college student from Sacramento, CA who received her winning Smarties® card entry from a Smarties® crane located in a Round Table Pizza in Vacaville, CA.The licensed Smarties® crane scholarship program has been made possible as a result of a partnership between S&B Candy and Toy and the Smarties® candy brand which builds on S&B's strong foundation of machines, but take crane play to a new and unique level.
Players of all ages have the opportunity to win a unique coded Smarties® card in the cranes that, in conjunction with the website smartiesland.comwww.smartiesland.com, allow them to access special VIP features, as well as to compete to win a 529B educational savings plan. Students get a chance to win a scholarship for each card registered in the website -- the more cards collected, the more chances to test your knowledge and win.
The program, in its beta phase, has already proven a great success. S&B currently has Smarties® cranes operating in several states and generated over 1,400 unique contestants on the website. S&B donates a portion of each sale from the machines and scholarship mixes to the program fund. Parents are endorsing this program and not hesitating to enthusiastically reach into their pockets to allow their kids to win Smarties cards. Smarties crane collections are strong with an average of $446 per month with a "win every time" product cost of approximately 18%. "Owning a Smarties® crane makes you smarter."
The scholarship presentation will be held in the S&B Candy and Toy Booth No. 1211 on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 1:15 p.m. Members of the media and industry are invited to participate to offer their congratulations to our winning student, Jana Putney, who will there with her mother, Lei, and utilizing her scholarship to pay for her next phase of her education- graduate school. "I wish to thank S&B Candy and Toy and Smarties® for making this program possible. This scholarship is definitely a reminder that my education, although expensive and difficult at times, is a gift and a joy in my life." Jana Putney said.
