SandenVendo America, a global vending machine manufacturer, has teamed with Vendekin Technologies, a Pune, India based provider of vending technology, to deploy Vendekin's RetroBox plug-n-play machine controller that can fit into any traditional vending machine, without the need of 4G/5G, upgrading it to a touchless vending machine, allowing customers to make mobile transactions by scanning a QR code with their smartphone camera, according to a press release.

Customers can use smartphones to select and pay for up to five products in one transaction, reducing physical contact by about 95%.

The RetroBox is compatible with all MDB versions, working in tandem with all cash acceptors and card readers with a dual cashless feature.

Being VDI/EVA/DTA compliant, data is ported wirelessly into any existing vending management software. The Vendekin VMS covers entire vending operations, managing purchase orders, warehouse inventory, automated machine planograms, pricing, automated service tickets and cash management.

There is also a dedicated operator app that allows operators to collect machine data.
