San Mateo County installs Narcan vending machine in correctional facility lobby

San Mateo County, California Correctional Health Services and the sheriff's office have installed a vending machine that dispenses free doses of Narcan, according to a report at The Almanac.
The vending machine is located in the public lobby of the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, California. Increasing access to Narcan is intended to reduce fatal overdoses.
"The effort took over a year and is the result of a great partnership with the sheriff's office," Correctional Health Services Director Michael del Rosario told the news outlet. "As we strive to make improvements in the services we provide to our incarcerated persons and to the community, we hope that we can help save a few lives with this project."
