People in San Diego County, California suffering from opioid addiction will be able to access Narcan, a drug that combats the effects of opioid, in vending machines, according to an nbcsandiego.com report.
The first of around a dozen machines will be installed by December at McAlister Institute — South Bay Regional Recovery Center in Chula Vista.
Users will be able to access the free Narcan after completing an online survey.
Harm Reduction Coalition San Diego is leading the vending machine initiative, which is part of a larger effort to deploy around 33,000 Narcan kits throughout the county every year.
