Reverse vending machine site opens in Melbourne suburb

A location for an Australian state government's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) has opened in Derrimut, a suburb about 11 miles west of Melbourne's city center, according to a Star Weekly report. This is the 17th CDS site in the Brimbank area.

The most recent site at Balmoral Park, 30 Lennon Parkway, allows residents to return eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund. Customers can choose to receive their refund in cash, via digital transfer or as a donation to a charity.

The CDS Vic West Zone app provides additional convenience, allowing users to check site status, verify containers and manage refunds. Local charities and community groups can also benefit from the scheme through fundraising initiatives.
