Refresco, a global beverage solutions provider, has acquired Frías Nutrición, a leading Spanish manufacturer of plant-based drinks. The deal, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close later this year. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Frías specializes in producing private-label plant-based drinks, including almond, rice, hazelnut and soy milk alternatives. The company operates a production facility in Burgos, Spain, and employs approximately 250 people.

Refresco CEO Hans Roelofs expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. "As part of our proven Buy & Build strategy, we are looking to expand our capabilities in existing and adjacent beverage categories," he said in the press release. "The acquisition of Frías significantly strengthens our position in the fast-growing plant-based drinks category. It complements our existing footprint in Spain with a production facility solely dedicated to plant-based products."
