OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL -- Redbox said it will expand the availability of new-generation videogames to all of its self-service movie and game rental machines in 2015. Videogames can be reserved online or by using the Redbox mobile app and rented through the company's nationwide network of 35,000 vending locations.

"We look forward to partnering with publishers to execute title-specific marketing plans as we expand new-gen [games] nationally," said Bill West, vice-president of games at Redbox. "Research tells us that our customers rent titles to help inform game purchase decisions. As our offering expands, we're helping publishers reach their goals of raising awareness and making trial more convenient and affordable for consumers nationwide."

Separately, Redbox announced a new agreement with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, maintaining a 28-day window on Blu-ray Disc and DVD titles through June 30, 2017. This means Redbox will continue to offer Fox titles, but must still wait 28 days from a film's release on disc until making it available for rental.

Redbox's 28-day embargo is included in its agreements with other studios, including a deal with Warner Home Video that it renewed in March.
