Pollard Banknote Limited has entered into a licensing agreement with Toho International, Inc., bringing Godzilla, the iconic King of the Monsters, to its licensed games portfolio, according to a press release. This marks Godzilla's inaugural appearance in the lottery category, with rights covering printed tickets (including pull-tab and Fast Play) and digital eInstants, creating omnichannel opportunities for Pollard Banknote's lottery partners.

Godzilla, one of the longest-running and most recognizable film series globally, has generated over $4.3 billion in box office revenue and boasts 90% consumer recognition. Its recent resurgence in popularity positions the brand as a strong draw for nostalgia-driven promotions. The partnership also includes other famous characters from the Toho Co., Ltd. film series, such as Mothra, King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mechagodzilla.

The agreement offers unique experiential prizing opportunities for lotteries, including trips to Japan for immersive Godzilla-themed experiences, such as stays at themed hotels and visits to branded amusement park attractions. U.S.-based options could include a visit to the new Godzilla-themed Alamo Drafthouse theater in Santa Clara or Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. These offerings, combined with bold ticket designs and in-store displays, are aimed at boosting player engagement and driving impulse purchases.

"Lottery players are drawn to brands that evoke a sense of nostalgia and excitement, and Godzilla delivers on both fronts," Brad Thompson, VP, sales and marketing, Pollard Banknote, said in the release. "Its global fanbase, timeless appeal and bold visual identity make it an ideal choice for creating standout games that drive both engagement and sales. We're excited to help our clients bring this renowned franchise to life in compelling new ways."
