Researchers found a soda tax cut weekly soda consumption at a Philadelphia high school by nearly 30%, according to a Daily Mail report.
The city's 1.5 cents per ounce soda tax took effect in January 2017.
Berkeley, California, which became the first U.S. city to tax soda in March 2015, saw soda sales fall by 9.6% one year after the tax took effect while sales in nearby areas increased 6.9%.
