Maternity Care Coalition is launching an initiative in the Philadelphia region that uses vending-style kiosks to distribute free baby essentials and hygiene products to families in underserved communities, according to a WPVI News report.

The Community Care Kiosks will provide items such as diapers, wipes, infant formula and women's hygiene products, helping offset costs that can place a significant financial burden on low- income households.

The nonprofit said the kiosks are intended not only to supply necessities but also to connect families with additional support services. Program leaders noted that reducing out-of-pocket expenses for essentials allows families to redirect limited resources toward other critical needs such as food and utilities. Infant formula alone can cost between $28 and $60, underscoring the financial strain the program aims to alleviate.

The initiative is funded by AstraZeneca and has begun rolling out across the region, with four kiosks installed to date. Locations include Temple Women's Hospital and sites in three surrounding counties, selected to improve access for families who may have difficulty traveling to centralized service locations.

Organizers said the kiosks represent a broader effort to expand access to essential resources while meeting families where they are through convenient, self-service distribution points.
