Philadelphia lawmaker seeks to repeal soda tax

David Oh, an at-large city council member, has introduced legislation to repeal the Philadelphia soda tax which taxes 1.5 cents-per-ounce of sugary drinks, according to a report in The Philadelphia Tribune.

The funds raised by the tax support pre-kindergarten programs and facilities such as recreation centers, libraries, playgrounds and parks.

The proposal heads to the Committee on Finance next for consideration.
