A pharmacy in Lancashire, UK has applied for permission to install a MedPoint—a prescription collection machine that allows people to pick up their prescription securely 24/7, according to a Lancashire Post report.
The unit would sit flush with Whalley Pharmacy's shopfront and have a similar footprint to that of an ATM. The kiosk works by the pharmacist first placing the prescription bag on a vacant MedPoint, where the prescription bag is then automatically scanned and linked with a shelf number, according to the report. Each patient will receive an automated text with a unique collection PIN to access their medicine.
Developers can expect a decision from the Ribble Valley Borough Council planning chiefs in the next few weeks.
