PepsiCo to lay off hundreds of workers

PepsiCo Inc. is laying off hundreds of employees at its North American snack and beverage units, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, citing an internal memo.

The company described the layoffs as an effort to "simplify" the organization.

While the company has increased its forecast profits, it previously signaled its need for belt-tightening measures to reduce costs.

The company has also raised prices by an average 17% over last year.
