PepsiCo plans to close four U.S. bottling plants and lay off nearly 400 employees, according to an MSN report. The closures aim to streamline operations amid declining sales.
The company cited lower consumer demand for its beverages and snacks as a key factor in the decision. This comes after PepsiCo recently lowered its sales forecast for the year.
While some plant functions will continue, the closures will impact workers in Cincinnati, Chicago, Harrisburg and Atlanta.
PepsiCo did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
