PURCHASE, NY -- PepsiCo Inc. has promoted three senior-level executives, effective Sept. 1. Ramon Laguarta, chief executive for Europe Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA), will become president of PepsiCo. He will oversee the company's global operations, corporate strategy and government affairs, along with the PepsiCo Foundation. Operationally, he will work with Mehmood Khan, vice-chairman and chief scientific officer, to drive category innovation and progress PepsiCo's sustainability goals. Laguarta brings more than 20 years of PepsiCo experience to his new role.
Laxman Narasimhan, PepsiCo's chief executive of Latin America (LATAM), will become chief executive of LATAM and ESSA. Narasimhan will oversee the company's food and beverage businesses across both regions. Narasimhan joined PepsiCo in 2012.
Silviu Popovici, currently president of Russia, Ukraine and CIS, has been promoted to president of ESSA. Previously, he spent three years as president of PepsiCo Russia. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at Wimm-Bill-Dann. Prior to joining PepsiCo, Popovici worked for Coca-Cola in Eastern Europe.
