The inaugural event, held this week at PepsiCo's headquarters in Purchase, New York, brought together nearly 60 participants from 19 countries. The Perry Family Farm of Alberta, Canada, which has supplied potatoes to Lay's for more than 45 years, was named the 2025 Farmer of the Year for its work in regenerative agriculture and renewable energy.

"Our business starts with farmers. They are the heartbeat of our supply chain and the foundation of the global food system," Ramon Laguarta, PepsiCo's chairman and CEO. "These awards are about celebrating their contributions, highlighting the innovations they're pioneering and reinforcing our shared ambition to help build a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive agricultural system."
The awards are part of PepsiCo's pep+ Positive Agriculture initiative, which aims to advance regenerative practices across 10 million acres by 2030. PepsiCo said it has already achieved more than 3.5 million acres globally as of 2024 through programs that promote soil health, biodiversity and water conservation.
Categories recognized at the event included sustainability, leadership, quality, heritage and next-generation farming. PepsiCo leaders said the Global Farmer Awards will become an annual tradition to celebrate agricultural innovation and strengthen partnerships across the company's 60-country sourcing network.
