Penguin Random House UK has unveiled a book-vending machine at Linlithgow Academy, offering students access to a diverse range of literature, according to a report by Publishing Perspectives. The machine is stocked with over 70 titles from Penguin's "Lit in Colour" reading lists, which aim to increase visibility of writers of color in schools.

The Lit in Colour program is a partnership between Penguin Random House UK and Runnymede Trust, a think tank focused on race equity. The program aims to address the under representation of writers of color in school curricula and provide teachers with resources and support.

"As books are like windows and mirrors, it's vital that all children have access to a diverse range of stories," Zaahida Nabagereka, senior social impact manager at Penguin Random House UK, told the news outlet. "This vending machine is a tangible way to make that happen."
