PORTLAND, OR -- PayRange is using the new "offers" feature on its payment app to give vending patrons the option to contribute to relief efforts for victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25.

Users can optionally select the donation "offer" and add 50¢ to their vend price, which will be sent by PayRange to a charity to help feed children, according to PayRange chief executive Paresh Patel. There will be no additional fee to the operator, and PayRange said it will donate 100% of the proceeds.

The donation option is now live and visible on all PayRange-equipped machines. It will run for the next two weeks.

PayRange introduced the new version of its Bluetooth-enabled mobile payment app, which includes the "offers" functionality, at last week's NAMA OneShow in Las Vegas. | READ MORE

The new app features virtual cards for each machine that is within "PayRange." The reverse side of the "cards" include rebates and offers that are specific to each machine. For example, one offer might be, "Purchase Fritos and get 25¢ off." The user selects this offer, sends payment to the machine, and makes the selection for Fritos on the vender. After the product is dispensed, a barcode scan window appears in the app and the user is prompted to scan the barcode of the item to validate the offer. Once validated, a credit is applied immediately to the user's PayRange account.
