PORTLAND, OR -- PayRange Inc. said it has enlisted Bob Cooney as an adviser to help drive the expansion of its mobile payment app into the amusement industry.

Cooney, an amusement industry expert, will help PayRange with business development and assist with building its go-to-market strategy. Based in San Clemente, CA, Cooney will work with PayRange amusement sales manager Mike Maloney, who has been calling on OEMs and operators across the sector since last summer, to deploy PayRange across the U.S.

Cooney has built a 25-year career at the forefront of amusement technology, from laser tag and virtual reality to Internet jukeboxes and restaurant tablets. He founded Laser Storm, an Inc. 500 and Nasdaq-traded laser tag manufacturer, in 1990.

He held very early stage senior positions with videogame developer Global VR, jukebox provider Ecast and networked trivia company NTN Buzztime.

"Mobile payments are the next evolution of our cashless society, but hooking up every coin-op device to a network to enable cashless is just not financially or technically practical," Cooney said. "PayRange technology allows operators to take mobile payments without having to even think about it. The low cost of the product, combined with the consumer friendly PayRange app, should make this a no-brainer for operators that run leagues and tournaments, arcades, family entertainment centers and any other locations that see repeat traffic."

PayRange chief executive Paresh Patel said Cooney's experience with developing and selling technology products will help the company meet the specific needs of amusement centers and route operations. "We had overwhelming interest from operators and distributors at the Amusement Expo this spring, and we look forward to Bob building on that momentum," said Patel.

Cooney will join the PayRange team in demonstrating its payment technology at IAAPA this week at Valley Dynamo's booth (#1800) and Jersey Jack's exhibit (#213).

He can be reached by emailing bob.cooney@payrange.com.
