Panasonic is conducting field tests of its "Pimto" mobile robot vending service in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, according to a Robots and Automation News report. The remotely operated robots are designed for unmanned sales, aiming to enhance the visitor experience while addressing labor shortages.
The tests, which are being conducted in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment, will help Panasonic gather data on customer interactions and refine the robot's design and functionality.
By utilizing mobile robots, Panasonic hopes to improve accessibility and potentially support employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This initiative aligns with the company's commitment to universal design and innovative solutions for the service industry.
