BELLEVUE, WA -- Outerwall Inc. has named Erik E. Prusch chief executive, ending the automated retailing company's six-month search for permanent leader. He succeeds Nora M. Denzel, an Outerwall board member, who served as interim chief executive since Jan. 18, after J. Scott Di Valeri stepped down from the post.

Prusch, who also becomes a member of the Outerwall board, has more than 25 years' experience leading technology and consumer-facing businesses. He was president and chief executive of Clearwire, a U.S. provider of 4G wireless broadband services that was acquired by Sprint in 2013. He also held senior-level executive posts at Borland Software, Intuit's TurboTax division, Identix, Gateway Computers, Koch Industries and PepsiCo.
