A Malaysian startup is addressing the food and beverage industry's labor shortage with a technological solution. Otter Barista has developed robotic coffee vending machines that can prepare a variety of hot beverages, according to a Vulcan Post report.

The machines offer 13 drink options, including coffee, chocolate and matcha, and allow customers to customize their orders. Each unit is equipped with an IoT system for remote monitoring and inventory management. Otter Barista claims to be the first in Malaysia to offer a fully automated coffee vending experience, from order placement to beverage dispensing.

Founded by Eeyong Ho, a chemical engineer, the company has deployed 60 machines across the Klang Valley and Perak. Target locations include hospitals, offices, universities and other high-traffic areas. Otter Barista is currently focused on expanding its presence within Malaysia and plans to partner with local businesses for further growth.
