Convenience services industry veteran Orrin Huebner has joined Consolidated Services Group, a foodservice coffee trader serving hundreds of U.S. operators and representing dozens of products, to expand its consultancy division that includes mergers and acquisitions for convenience services operations.

For years, John Salterio and his team at CSG has provided merger and acquisition services to operators as a secondary offering through Trinity Transaction Services.

Joining Huebner in this initiative are Salterio and Gary Pretzer, who also bring extensive convenience services operations experience.

Huebner, based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, most recently served as a regional director at the Illinois OCS branch of Compass Group North America, which owns Canteen Vending Services Inc.

Consulting and M & A services are not new to CSG/TTS, Huebner told Vending Times in a phone interview. In making his decision to join CSG/TTS, he said he agreed with Salterio, the company's founder, that a gap existed for a greater focus on business improvement consulting and M&A services.

"It's just a void not being filled today," Huebner said. "It's a renewed approach to M&A. It's more than just the M&A work that John is expanding.

"We're going to do more consulting on a daily basis," he said. "If somebody wants to improve their business, there's a gap. Everybody talks to you when you want to buy a business or sell your business. What happens long before that?"

Gary Pretzer

Pretzer, a long-time Chicago vending and coffee service operator, joined CSG/TTS in 2007 after selling his last operating business, Embassy Coffee Service in Bridgeview, Illinois, to Synergia Corp. in Northbrook, Illinois, where Huebner was president.

Synergia Corp. renamed itself Embassy Coffee Service and in 2012 was acquired by Compass Group.

Huebner retired from Compass Group in August of 2021.
