Nichirei Foods to pull longstanding hot food machines in Japan

Nichirei Foods Inc., a frozen food manufacturer in Japan, will discontinue its hot food vending machines by the end of the month on account of competition from convenience stores, according to a soranews24.com report.

The machines have been available for 30 years at airports, ferries and service areas, serving burgers, fries, rice balls, chicken and more.

Instant noodle and other "light meal" machines will continue.
