News Article Looks At Jukebox Music Trends In Arizona TouchTunes Data Show Eclectic Tastes

A story at Arizona's leading website for news takes a look at the most-played songs on the state's jukeboxes. For her research, azcentral.com's Kaila White turned to jukebox giant TouchTunes, which shared its popular song and artist data between June 2014 and May 2015 in every zip code in Maricopa County, and parts of downtown Flagstaff and Tucson.

While the artists who showed up on the regions' most-played lists are the same as those in TouchTunes' 2014 yearend charts, which represents the entire country -- Luke Bryan, AC/DC, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock, Johnny Cash, the Rolling Stones, George Strait and Metallica -- the story found some surprising trends.

"Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle was the No. 1 song in downtown Flagstaff and Wickenburg, as well as in parts of north Phoenix and Glendale. "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks is consistently among the top three songs played near Arizona's three state universities. Near Arizona State University, top songs include "Play It Again" by Luke Bryan and "Amarillo by Morning" by George Strait. At a jukebox location on Luke Air Force Base, Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding" are purchased most.
