Vending operators and retailers will be required to add warning labels about added sugar in beverages under a bill introduced to the New York legislature, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association.
The rule would apply to beverages with added sugar and more than 75 calories per 12 fluid ounces, according to the NAMA weekly legislative report.
The warning labels would have to say: "Drinking beverages with added sugar can lead to obesity, diabetes, and tooth decay," and would need to be shown on vending machines and on menus.
