New Jersey lawmakers have introduced a bill to extend the state sales tax to bakery products that contain at least 30 grams of sugar, according to the NAMA weekly legislative wrapup.

The law, A4279, would apply the tax to cookies, pastries, muffins, donuts, biscuits, pies, cakes, buns, tortes, tortillas, biscuits, bread, Danish and croissants.

The National Automatic Merchandising Association opposes the bill.
