Morris County, New Jersey, in partnership with Prevention is Key, is expanding its harm reduction initiatives to save lives and reduce the impact of the opioid crisis, according to a Tap into Morristown report. The county is investing in strategies such as increased access to Narcan, harm reduction services and education.

A significant step is the installation of three harm reduction vending machines across the county, including one at the Morris County Correctional Facility. These machines provide easy access to life-saving Narcan, particularly for individuals re-entering the community who are at a higher risk of overdose.

The partnership between Morris County and PIK has already yielded positive results, with the 200th Narcan kit being distributed at the correctional facility. This milestone highlights the effectiveness of harm reduction strategies in preventing overdose deaths.

By implementing these comprehensive measures, Morris County aims to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorders and provide individuals with the tools and support they need to recover.
