Nestle to switch from Fairtrade to Rainforest Alliance for Kit Kat cocoa

Nestle will source cocoa for Kit Kat bars from Rainforest Alliance instead of Fairtrade beginning in October, according to a report in The Guardian.

The Fairtrade label guarantees farmers receive a minimum price and a financial bonus.

A company spokesperson said Nestle would be spending the same amount of money on cocoa working with Rainforest Alliance.
