Nestlé will rebrand its Red Skins and Chicos sweets, sold in Australia, on account of offensive racial overtones, as well as Beso de Negra which is sold in Columbia, according to a CNN report.
Allen's, the Nestlé brand that makes the Australian sweets, said on Facebook that the decision was made to avoid marginalizing colleauges, neighbors and friends friends.
Redskin is a slur to describe Native Americans, the company said, while chico can be a stereotypical term for Latin Americans.
Nestlé confirmed it will also rename its Beso de Negra marshmallow treats. The brand, sold in Colombia, translates as a black woman's kiss.
