Nespresso Cube Barcelona Airport, vending machineVIENNA, Austria -- Nespresso has opened a café here that features the Nespresso Cube, an automated retail solution where consumers can buy single-cup capsules for their Nespresso home brewers. The café is part of a pilot program.

Visitors to the high-end coffeehouse can purchase made-to-order Nespresso Grand Cru coffees prepared by baristas, along with freshly made foods provided through a joint venture with local food caterer DO&CO.

Customers can also purchase Grand Cru coffee pods through the Nespresso Cube. The automated boutique is the first in Austria. It was first deployed in five other countries in 2013 and 2014, offering 23 Grand Cru or Limited Edition coffees.

The Nespresso Cube (pictured here at Barcelona Airport) contains up to 48,000 capsules, or 4,800 "sleeves," of all varieties of Grand Cru coffees and can service two customers at the same time. Nespresso Club members can purchase the capsules using their membership card and credit card payment is available to all customers.

A collection point is also available in the Nespresso Café for consumers to return their used capsules for recycling. Over 1,200 collection points are now available throughout Austria.
