The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, July 13, with a presentation by popular motivational speaker Denise Ryan, who will explore "dealing with change without going up in flames" by the use of a five-step procedure. At 3:15 p.m., the Atlantic Coast Exposition planning committee will meet, and an NCVA board meeting, open to members, is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday's events culminate in a dinner and casino night starting at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 14, NCVA will hold a golf tournament starting at 9 a.m. There are 10 tee times, the last at 10:30 a.m. A volleyball tournament is slated for 11 a.m., and corn hole aficionados can participate in their own tournament at 1 p.m. "Beach chillin'" is available as an alternative. At 6:30 p.m., there will be a Sunset Terrace dinner with live music by the Russell & Woods Band.
Open activity options that participants can seek out and enjoy on their own include deep sea fishing, visits to historic sites in nearby Wilmington, NC (a 45-minute drive) including Fort Fisher (free admission) and the companion Fort Fisher Aquarium, for which the admission fee is $9-$11; the World War II battleship U.S.S. North Carolina, now a national monument (tours priced at $6-$14); and the opportunity to sample the shopping and dining resources of the Riverfront/Cotton Exchange. Childrens' activities are available through the Holiday Inn Resort
