MESA, AZ -- NCR Small Business, a division of technology giant NCR Corp., is holding up a small arcade in Mesa, AZ, as an example of success for its NCR Silver point-of-sale system. NCR's new system was designed for small businesses such as Starfighters Arcade, founded by husband-and-wife team Mike and Kathy Lovato.
Starfighters, a membership-based venue, relies on the tablet POS system to capture admissions, manage the consignment of vintage videogame machines and sell concessions and merchandise, among other tasks.
"As we had no previous retail experience when opening the arcade, we chose NCR Silver because it truly is an all-in-one solution," said Kathy Lovato. "The solution takes care of the technical matters involved in running our business, so we can focus on giving our community the chance to enjoy classic videogames as much as we do."
The Lovatos said they chose the NCR system for its backend reporting features that allow them to stay in touch with their membership of classic coin-op enthusiasts. It collects email addresses and promotes special events through social media. The system also tracks tournament play at the arcade; among the location's events is a weekly high-score competition on Friday nights of which the winner takes home a keepsake related to the game played.
NCR Small Business president and general manager Chris Poelma said, "By providing an easy-to-use mobile POS system that helps manage business operations, we give small business owners the chance to pursue their goals and grow their businesses."
