SAN DIEGO, CA -- The Hotel del Coronado here will host the National Coffee Association of USA's annual convention this year. The event will open with NCA's annual membership meeting on Wednesday, March 16, and a preconference symposium is set for the morning of March 17, with a welcome celebration at the U.S.S. Midway Museum slated for the evening. The convention will get under way on Friday, March 18, and conclude on the following day.
A highlight of the venerable conference (NCA was established in 1911) will be a first look at the association's 2016 "National Coffee Drinking Trends" report. Compiled on the basis of more than six decades' insight, NCA's report is considered the industry's foremost survey of U.S. consumer behavior and perception regarding coffee.
The NCDT furnishes a broad spectrum of key data and analysis about American coffee drinkers. It tracks average daily consumption; how, where and when coffee is consumed, and how frequently; and the factors that limit -- or encourage -- its consumption. The preview will be presented by Baronet Coffee general manager Mark Marino.
Also on the agenda are a keynote address by former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele at Friday's general session; a series of concurrent breakout sessions on a variety of topics from coffee science to human resources to sustainability; a cupping workshop led by Brent Hall and Kyle Newkirk of S&D Coffee & Tea; and a business luncheon on Saturday, March 19, which will be keynoted by Roberto Vélez Vallejo, chief executive officer of the Coffee Growers of Colombia (Federación Nacional de Cafeteros).
NCA is headquartered in New York City and online at ncausa.org.
