Nayax teams with UKO on age verification solution for vending

Nayax Ltd., a commerce enablement and payments platform provider, has developed an age-verification software for its Onyx contactless card reader in partnership with UKO, an Austrian-based provider of vending machines, to enable operators to distribute products faster, according to a press release.

The solution offers an integrated card reader which can be retrofitted on any kind of vending machine without extra mounting work. It will enable operators to accept cashless payments via their machines and verify the consumer's age before selling any youth-protected products such as tobacco and alcohol.

When the consumer taps his or her debit card on the Onyx card reader, the registered card holder's age will be verified online.

Age verification will work with the following Austrian-issued debit cards: Maestro, Debit Mastercard, V Pay and Visa Debit.

Starting in mid-2023, UKO Microshops will launch the solution on its vending machines.
