PORTLAND, OR -- Victor "Vic" Ernest Oekerman died on April 11 here. He was 86.
Oekerman, a Portland, OR, native, owned and operated Oekerman Sales, a vend brokerage serving the Pacific Northwest, California, Alaska and Nevada, as well as China, Japan and South Korea. He had previously worked as a salesman for Nestlé Co. for two decades.
Oekerman enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1948. He served on two aircraft carriers, the USS Shangri-La and the USS Yorktown, during his Navy career. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer (4th Class) in 1989, and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy; son Keith, daughter Faye and stepson Shawn Lee; and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bonnie Gullett, who died in 1999.
