National Bulk Vendors Association Begins Membership Drive

| by Hank Schlesinger

PHOENIX -- Aiming to attract new blood and bring back old former members, the National Bulk Vendors Association has kicked of a new membership drive.

As part of the initiative, the association is offering a 50% membership discount to both new and lapsed members. In addition, the NBVA will make it easier to join by accepting membership fees by PayPal, which will soon be enabled at its updated website. The association will also be offering a recurring payment option that automatically renews each year.

"Today's NBVA is a lean, well functioning association. People are taking notice of that, and we're seeing members coming back," said NBVA president Steve Schechner of Capital Vending (Florence, AL). Schechner did not say how many members are currently in NBVA's rank and file, but he did report that membership was up compared with a year ago.

The association also has several new board members who are looking to implement new programs over the coming year. "These new board members are young and fully engaged in the association," Schechner said. "It's a new NBVA with new thinking."

The strategy of the membership drive, Schechner explained, is to make it easier and less expensive to join the NBVA. Another component to the association's effort is to make it more responsive to bulk vending operators' needs in addressing the issues the industry is facing today and far into the future.

NBVA, founded in 1950, is headquartered in Phoenix and is online at Information on NBVA's membership programs can be had by calling (888) NBVA-USA [828-2872].
