NAMA urges Congress to pass bill to fight converter theft

The National Automatic Merchandising Association joined a coalition of trade associations in a letter to support a proposed federal law to battle rising catalytic converter theft, according to the NAMA weekly legislative report.

The bill, Preventing Auto Recycling Theft, H.R. 621/S. 154, gives law enforcement extra tools to combat converter theft, which has jumped 1,000% since 2019, according to the report.

Convenience services operators can send a form message to lawmakers in support of the bill, also knowns as the PART ACT, by accessing the Action Center on the NAMA website.
