The National Automatic Merchandising Association is urging Congress to add the last quarter of the Employee Retention Tax Credit to the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill, according to a press release.
Carla Balakgie, NAMA president and CEO, sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives' leaders noting the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, as passed by the Senate, terminates ERTC three months earlier than the Jan. 1, 2022 expiration date set earlier this year.
"The ERTC has been integral to many convenience services employers' efforts to keep employees on payroll," Mike Goscinski, senior director of external affairs, said in the release. "Without action from Congress, the hasty move to cut the ERTC short will result in yet another devastating blow to small businesses still reeling from the effects of federal and state mandated shutdowns."
Operators can support NAMA's effort by submitting additional letters to their representatives through NAMA's Action Center on its website.
